Applications in the Advanced level
The objectives of this level are to show you and have you use real-world
applications of high school (grades 9-12) math and science subjects (an example of
each application is in parentheses):
algebra: algebraic notation in equations
geometry: shapes of dams
trigonometry: calculation of dimensions of dams
calculus: rates of change
physical science: environmental factors in the cracking of dams
chemistry: chemical reactions in concrete
physics: force diagrams of dams
These examples of applications might be good times in the curriculum to use
this web site. This level will also show you how these things are connected to
subjects like social studies and history.
