Computer Labs for Linux

The Linux versions of galileo, pythag, schrdgr, huygens, ising, and jupiter computer labs are available for downloading.

(SSS stands for for Solid State Simulations, developed by Silsbee and company for teaching solid state physics. You can download the entire SSS distribution for Linux (except that the presets and exercises for "ising" will be different): unpack as described below. Source code is also available.)

You can download them from the Web

sssSethnaLinux.tgz (7.2 MB compressed).

Use gunzip and tar to unpack it, and then try running galileo from the sss/bin directory:

tar -xvzf sssLinux.tgz
cd sss/bin
./galileo (or pythag, or schrdgr ...)

(If your browser automagically transforms the file into sssSethnaMac.tar, try "tar -xvf sssSethnaMac.tar".)

You can't move the executables without moving the whole sss directory folder. If you have problems, let me know.
