Pencils Snap!

Ask your mom or dad (or your teacher) if you can have a pencil for a science experiment. You want a long wood pencil, and you won't be giving it back!

Now, LISTEN CLOSELY while you carefully break the pencil. Does it make sound like popcorn popping? Does it crackle like fire or paper? Or does it break in one loud SNAP?
