Probability of dam failure: taking alot into account

Stedinger, Heath, and Thompson found many things that affect the likelihood that a dam will fail. They created a sort of map showing the factors which affect the failure of a dam and their relationships.

Do you think any of these things would affect the loss of life due to a dam failure? Which ones? Why?

This diagram describes the many random factors that contribute to major inflow floods and that determine reservoir operation and possibledownstream damages during a flood event. This method of LOL (loss of life) calculation is known as the Monte Carlo method. It is most effective in estimating the possible damage for low- probability/ high- consequence events.
