In 1989 (?), three-dimensional numerical simulations of the dam and its
foundation were performed. The 3D computer model
of the dam is shown below.

The weight of the concrete and the force of the water were applied to the
model in the simulation. The initial crack and final crack are shown below
(at a magnification of 800x). |
