Kolnbrein Dam

Kolnbrein Dam is an arch dam.

It is more than 25 houses high.

It holds back a lake of more than 350 million bathtubs of water.

It is almost five houses wide at the bottom.

The dam is located in Austria.

The dam has many purposes:

  • to control flooding
  • to create power
  • to provide people with drinking water
The Kolnbrein Dam cracked on both sides.

The engineers tried many different things to stop the cracking.

They even tried to freeze the crack to stop it from growing.

This is a photo of the cracking.
